~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stephen "Steve" Douglas Myrter of Mannford, Oklahoma entered rest surrounded by loved
ones after a long hard fought battle on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma
at the age of 48.
He fought with strength and courage.
Steve was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on October 29, 1973.
As a child Steve loved spending time with his family, being outdoors and riding his bicycle.
He always had a love for dogs, ducks, and hot wheels. Steve graduated from Glenpool High School in 1991
where he was a senate and house of representatives' page at the Oklahoma State Capital,
active in the Choir, and won numerous national awards.
After college, he worked at Southwestern Bell in Indiana for 4 years, then moved back to Oklahoma.
Deciding corporate life wasn't his style, he became self-employed and ran a successful party rental
company until taking an early retirement to manage his health issues.
In 2008, Steve met the love of his life Tara and they married June 3, 2009 at Hot Springs,
AR in a pet cemetery. He already had Destinee born 2001 and welcomed twins Kayleigh
and Makenzie in 2009. Serenity joined the family in 2011 completing the family that he was
so proud of. The family moved to Mannford in 2018 and Steve was quickly making friends
and joined the Mannford PTO. He loved his four girls so much; some of his favorite things
were watching them in school/sport events, shooting guns, fishing, and four-wheeling.
Steve loved his family and spending time with them.
This past year he got to be the general
contractor on the family's dream home and personalized it to make sure everyone got what
they desired. He became active on the board with North 48 Fire Department in 2019
and currently was on the fundraiser committee with Mannford Competitive Cheer.
As an adult, he became an avid sportsman and loved shooting at his personal range with long-time
friend, Shane Parker. He always had a smile on his face and was always there to help anyone and everyone.
Steve is survived by his wife Tara, his four children: Destinee (Jake Fain), Kayleigh,
Makenzie, and Serenity, his parents Robert "Dave" and Marsha Myrter, two sisters Brooke
Schone (Matthew) and Billi Jo Perkins, his niece Avery, his nephew Bradley, and a huge
loving family along with many friends. He touched countless of lives and will be deeply
missed.
