The following was lovingly written by Sandra's family...
Precious wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister Sandra Jean Norwood passed away on August 19, 2017, joining her husband of 50 years, Ted Norwood. Daughter of Glen Roy and Mary Ann Stroup, Sandra was born in the town of Old Mannford, Oklahoma on January 14th, 1938. Ted and Sandra graduated from Mannford High school in 1956 and married a year later on June 7, 1957.
Ted got a job with International Telephone and Telegraph, which led the couple to travel many different places across the US, such as Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, New York, Nevada, Colorado and California. Two of their four children, Jeff and Jamie, were born while they traveled. Later on, the Norwood family returned to Mannford to have their last two children, Timothy and Chis, where they remained in the same house for over 50 years.
Once all her children were in school, Sandra worked as the Secretary to the Supervisor of the Lloyd E. Radar Center, a center for juvenile delinquents, from where she retired after 23 years. With the love and support of Sandra, Ted retired in 1994 to fulfill a dream come true, becoming a full-time rancher. Sandra valued and recognized her time as her most precious resource, and retirement provided her with the opportunity to use the time she had to the fullest. Whether she was shopping for the perfect gift for someone, diligently working in her flower beds, watching college basketball, or bringing out her competitive side by teaching her grandchildren how to play, and of course win, a game of Chinese checkers. Sandra also understood the beauty of the world and loved traveling and exploring it with her husband and children.
Sandra was truly a woman with such grace, purpose, strength and dignity. Her loyalty and abiding commitment to God that she served every day of her life, lives on through the many lives that she touched. Her family is comforted by knowing that she is reunited with her companion, husband and best friend, Ted.
Sandra is survived by her siblings, her four children and their families: Sister Glenda Kerr, brother Delbert Stroup and his wife Bea, and brother Jim Bowen and his wife Linda; Daughter Jamie Kemp and her son Ryan Kemp and his wife Anne Marie, and her daughter Rhonda Kemp and her son Rocco Auld; Son Timothy Norwood and his wife Angie and their children, Elizabeth, Catherine, Benjamin, Christopher and Timothy Norwood; Son Chris Norwood and his wife Tonja; Son Jeff Norwood and his wife Evelyn, their daughter Jennifer Garner and her husband Craig and their children Parker and Banner, their son Justin Norwood with his wife Kayla and their daughter Chloe.
A celebration of the beautiful life of Sandra Jean Norwood will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 22nd at the Mannford Church of Christ.
