~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ronald Dean Boone
died Thursday, January 22,
in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
surrounded by his four loving sons.
He was 85 years old.
Ronald,
known affectionately as "Ronnie"
by those close to him,
was born July 21, 1940,
in Sand Springs, Oklahoma
to David and Florene Boone.
He was the oldest of four siblings:
brothers Larry and Doug,
and sister Carolyn Ann.
Ronnie attended Keystone
and Mannford schools,
where he met the love of his life,
Caroline Claybrook.
They married on June 12, 1959.
Ronnie and Caroline
put down roots in Mannford,
Oklahoma, on Kennyville Road,
where they raised four sons:
Scott, Tim, Derek and Dan.
He worked most of his life as a pipe-fitter
and retired from ProFab.
He loved hunting and crappie fishing
and being in nature.
He had a large garden
with the most succulent strawberries,
and was famous for his
mouth-watering apple pies
with homemade crust,
made fresh from his apple trees.
Pecans were also a staple of his assortment
of homegrown food he ate and
offered thanks to several pecan trees
on his property that produced in abundance.
One stroll around his home and
you could frequently find buckets full of
freshly-picked pecans ready to take home.
Ronnie was generous with his giving –
anything in the garden from corn to peas, potatoes,
green beans, strawberries and pecans
were fair game for the taking –
and also with his time.
He loved being with his family
at sporting events for his kids,
grandkids and great grandkids,
he was right at home when
family and food intertwined.
Even late in his life he was still the only
trustworthy Boone to fry fish to everyone's liking.
And yes: everyone liked it.
Ronnie was not only adept at raising children
but also at game:
he loved raising cows and chickens,
and took it as a personal affront when snakes
tried to target his chicken's eggs in the coop.
He wasn't a golfer but he always had a
stash of golf balls
on hand to mix in with his chicken's eggs to
try and trick snakes into
eating – and killing – them.
Raising a family and caring for animals
was a theme of his life.
He bought 80 acres in Mannford, Oklahoma,
and – one tree at a time – cleared it with a chainsaw.
It was a labor of love — and, being close to home,
it was there where he raised most of his cattle
and was able to keep a close watch of them.
Ronnie was preceded in death by
his wife, Caroline.
He is survived by their four sons:
Scott and his wife Patti of Mannford;
Tim and his wife Dana of Sapulpa;
Derek and his wife Kim of Mannford;
and Dan and his wife Debbie of Stillwater.
He is also survived by his brother
Larry and his wife Bea of Sand Springs;
his brother Doug and his wife Marilyn of Mannford;
and his sister Carolyn Ann of Cleveland.
Ronnie and Caroline were blessed
with nine grandchildren:
Brandon Boone, Daraka McCrackin,
Cierra Eubanks, Kyle Boone, Breah Daily,
Drake Boone, Brittnee Nessa,
Ty Boone and Malloree Boone.
They also had ten great grandchildren:
Emma, Alyssa, Sadie, Scarlett,
Gracelynn, Georgia,
Boston, Brooks, Rhett and Beckham …
and another on the way.
