Former Mannford resident, Nels Olaf Bengston of Ponca City, OK. Left this life suddenly to be taken home and united with his Lord, on March 6, 2012 at the age of 67 years.

He was born, May 10, 1944 in Sapulpa Ok, to RC & Hazel Bengston. He attended School in Prettywater, Kellyville, and Olive Schools graduating from Olive School with the class of 1962. He and Carol Lee Harvill were united in marriage on August 16, 1963 in Drumright Oklahoma, and was separated by her death on September 11, 2004.


He retired after 30 years from Baker Hughes Inc in Sand Springs in 2004. He was a longtime member of the Mannford Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years. He was an active member of the Olive Alumni Association, Marland Methodist Christian Church, Frontier Ag Boosters, and the Elks Lodge of Ponca City. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, collecting arrow heads,4 wheeling and especially spending time with his family and friends. Known as a jokester, he always had a smile on his face, and had never met a stranger. He was known as a beloved friend, husband, dad & to his grand kids as Pa. He married Sherry Head on October 2, 2010.


In addition to his wife Sherry of the home, he is survived by daughter and son in law Lisa & Jerry Orcutt of Broken Arrow,OK, daughter and son in law GlenNel & Jeff Barlow of Claremore, OK, son and daughter in law Roland & Angie Bengston of Mannford, OK, step daughter and son in law, Lynn & Terry Lane of Ponca City, OK, brothers, Ralph & Sue Bengston of Mannford, OK, Earl & Barbara Bengston of Gainesville, TX, sisters, Deloris & Leon Blankenship of Mannford, OK, Marie Mirzaian of Broken Arrow, OK, Joan & J.D. Harness of Bristow, OK. Grandchildren, Nikki Powell of Eucha, OK, Jake & wife Kristel Orcutt of Broken Arrow, OK, Paige Powel of Claremore, OK, Kyle Orcutt of Broken Arrow, OK, Colton Land & Callie Lane of Ponca City, great grandchildren, Caleb McGuire of Eucha, OK, Luke Broyles of Claremore, OK, and Erika Orcutt of Broken Arrow. Also numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.



Services were held, Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Church of Christ in Mannford, OK with Tony Keesee, Earl Bengston, & Chris Short officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Mannford, under the direction of the Mannford Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to Mannford & Frontier FFA, in Nels' memory.
