"Louis Clay Ausbrook" was born April 4, 1934 at Vida Way, a small community south of Oilton, Oklahoma to Virgil and Eula Spradlin Ausbrook. Louis was the youngest of eight children. He passed away Sunday morning, September 8, 2013 at St. John's Hospital after a long illness.
Louis attended school at Vida Way before moving to Oilton, where he graduated in 1952. After high school Louis worked various jobs. In 1956 Louis moved his family to the Maysville, Oklahoma area to go to work for Sinclair Oil. In 1975 Louis moved back to Oilton where he became reacquainted with Meredith Means. They were married in 1975 and were devoted to each other for the next 38 years. In 1978 they moved to Gainesville, Texas where he worked for Arco Oil and Gas, then to Enid, and then back to Gainesville where he retired in 1986. After his retirement they moved to Mannford, Oklahoma where Louis began his second career. For the next 25 years he dedicated himself to driving a school bus for Mannford schools. He retired just two weeks before his death.
Louis was an avid OU fan. He loved to watch any OU sport. He also enjoyed discussing politics and was always glad to give you his opinion.
After retirement he and Meredith enjoyed camping each summer in Lake City, Colorado and also at Keystone Lake until his health wouldn't allow him to.
Louis is survived by his wife, Meredith of the home; his daughters, Vickie Foraker and her husband Bobby, of Maysville; Myra Rennie and her husband, Fred of Pauls Valley; Lisa Shipman and her husband Art of Oilton; son, David Floyd and his wife Alana of Sand Springs.
His grandchildren, Katie Troutman, Nick Rennie, Danielle Nichols, Holley Sanders, Lesley Abbott, Keith Foraker, Kevin Foraker and Whitney Floyd and seven great grandchildren and expecting an eighth in November.
Louis is also survived by one sister, Anna Mae Weaver of Enid and many nieces, nephews and friends he has made throughout the years.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sybil, brothers, James, Eugene, Bill, Richard, and Dale. He was also preceded in death by his oldest grandson, Kyle Foraker.
Services were held Thursday, September 12 at 10 a.m. at Mannford Christian Fellowship Church. Brother Steve Quinnelly officiated.
Interment followed at the Highland Cemetery in Oilton, OK.
