This was lovingly written by
 Kenny's three sisters: 


After having three girls,  
Kenneth Edward Shoemaker, 
 or Kenny as he liked to be called, 
was the much anticipated, 
long awaited & only son of
 Cecil & Lena Shoemaker.  
Our parents delighted in having a boy 
after being immersed in "girl related activities" 
for the previous 14 years.  
Whenever we took him to church as a newborn baby, 
the girls & ladies of the church
 all wanted to take a turn holding &
 cuddling this cute little guy with the wavy brown hair.  

Our parents made sure that Kenny 
was taught about Jesus 
from the time he was born.  
Kenny was always in attendance at 
Sunday School & Church each week as well as
 attending vacation Bible School & 
the Church of God Youth  Camp each summer. 
 Mother & Daddy were so happy to 
dedicate his life to the Lord. 

As a young boy, 
Kenny had a fascination
 for reading comic books,
 and he especially loved Superman comics.  
One summer when he was about 4 years old, 
Momma made a him a makeshift cape out of a towel 
& he played Superman out in the backyard 
of our home in the old town of Mannford.  
It was a surprise & shock 
when he decided to climb up to
 the roof of an old building in our back yard
 to test out his new "cape".  
 Watching Superman on tv fly so effortlessly, 
Kenny must have imagined
 he had the same super powers—
just like his tv superhero.  
When he unfortunately discovered
 he was unable to fly, 
we were so thankful he wasn't hurt & 
hadn't broken any bones.  

Kenny was a voracious reader &
 his love for reading continued all
 through his adult life. 
  His interest for many types of books expanded 
to many other types of literature. 
 He also enjoyed art & was passionate about 
the many types of music.
  He also played the piano and he knew
 tons of church hymns
 as music was instilled in all of us kids at a
 young age by our Mother. 
 Momma was always singing,
 & we sung at home as she accompanied
 us on the piano, in the car & of course, at church. 
 Some of his favorite hymns were "I'll Fly Away",
 "Victory in Jesus" and our 
Mom's favorite, "How Great Thou Art". 

After his stroke seven years ago,
 Kenny continued to along with the other 
residents at the nursing home.  
We played his favorite music that his great-nephew 
Kaleb downloaded on his cellphone.  
This music brought him hours of pleasure & 
he enjoyed singing all of his favorite songs.  

Kenny's love of rock & roll bands &
 artists included Paul McCartney of the Beatles
 who was a favorite and lots of other rock & roll bands, 
especially songs by Burton Cummings
 of The Guess Who. 
 His knew the names of each artist & song & 
regularly sang the lyrics of many songs 
word for word from memory.  

Ken loved football & 
the Oklahoma Sooners 
were his absolute favorite team. 
 He got so excited (BOOMER SOONER!) 
watching them play on television & 
win many championship games over the years. 

His love for the Lord & 
his family remained constant.  
 After his stroke,
 he could often be heard shouting,
 "Praise the Lord, Jesus Christ" & 
he had a renewed faith &
 devotion to his Lord & Savior in his 60s. 
 His sisters were amazed & 
proud of his determination &
 fighting spirit as he tried hard
 to keep a positive attitude &
 outlook throughout his illness. 
 Fond memories of times spent 
with our brother are so special,
 but the most cherished ones are the ones
 where we will remember the parting words Kenny
 left with us: "I love you lots, Sis",
 or "I love all my sisters". 

And, until we meet again,
 we repeat these heartfelt words
 his youngest sister, Paula, 
would  always say, 
 "I love you MORE!"
