The following was lovingly written by John's family...

Johannes "John" Grewe of Mannford, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home in Mannford, OK on February 9th, 2018 with Renate, his beloved wife of 70 years, daughters, and grandchildren by his side.

John was born in Bremen, Germany on August 27, 1923 to Hinrich and Hilda Grewe.  He was a medic in the German Infantry during WWII. In 1947 he married Renate Arnold and together they moved to Nebraska where they lived until they moved to Oklahoma in 1967. Together they raised four children.

John thrived in several rewarding careers throughout his lifetime. He loved music and he loved to play the organ. His love for music led him into the piano and organ business in Nebraska and Tulsa for many years. He later taught himself to tune pianos, and his services were much sought after. Throughout his life he also worked as an accountant and as a German teacher.  After his retirement, he was passionate about speaking to school age students describing his life growing up in WWII Germany and also about writing his family history for his family to cherish.  In 2000, he self-published a book "About A New Dawn," a story of his life growing up in Germany. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who took his role as a family man and servant of God seriously.

John is survived by his wife, Renate Grewe, his children Angelika Potter, Liz Pantelogianis and husband Mike, and Dorothy Reinholtz, thirteen grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and great – great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents Hinrich and Hilda Grewe, son Manfred Grewe, sister Ruth Stenzel, and son-in-law Kurt Potter.

Services were held at First United Methodist Church, Mannford, Oklahoma at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 12th followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
