The following was lovingly written by Don's family....

Don McCarty 2-19-1936 – 8-19-2020

Don was born February 19, 1936 in Sperry Oklahoma the firstborn of Walter McCarty and Dallas Loraine Stephens. Don attended Sperry public schools where he excelled in sports, lettering in football, baseball, and basketball. He even had a write up in the Tulsa World about how he could play baseball with one arm. He graduated High school in 1955. Don met the love of his life Violet Hoffman in high school while she and her dad were fishing at Don's grandfathers' pond. He and Violet enjoyed fishing his entire life and never told too many fish stories.

Don and Violet married on June 1, 1956 in Sperry. They lived in Turley Oklahoma where they had two children Chris, and Karen. Don had various jobs prior to spending the majority of his work career at Tulsa Public Library as the Maintenance Foreman at the time of his retirement. Don was active in the Masonic lodge. He was also active in church and was an Elder at Lakeview Christian Church in Mannford. Don always enjoyed camping and fishing. He spent many hours on lakes with relatives and friends fishing. Don and his family spent many summers camping along the Illinois River and floating along making fun of the amateurs. Don and his family camped all over Oklahoma and even camped on Pismo beach in California. Don and Violet continued to camp and fish all across the area. They spent lots of quality time with their granddaughters camping in Branson and enjoying Silver Dollar City.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, step father Roy McGuire, half sister Marvita McGuire. He is survived by his wife Violet of the home, son Chris (Jeri) McCarty, Daughter Karen Sequira, Tony Sequira, granddaughter Whitney (Jeremy) Tillman, granddaughters Shelby and Kaylie Sequira.
