The following was lovingly written by Buck's family:
Dennis Emmet "Buck" Cramer 08/11/1927 – January 23/2021
Buck was born and raised in Old Mannford by his parents Denis O. "Doc" and Edna Alice (Ford) Cramer. His first girl and favorite niece Alice Jean, was a huge part of his high school days, providing him the perfect "chick magnet" as he strolled main street on weekends with her on his hip. He played basketball for the Pirates and graduated in May of 1945; he had the proudest mama in all of Mannford.
1945 was an eventful year, graduation found Buck with the war on his mind. He volunteered for service and left for bootcamp and on to Korea. Before he left, Buck married his high school sweetheart, Betty Gayle Wilson. Betty gave him two most precious gifts: He returned home from Korea to meet his baby girl, Gayle Janette and two years later, his son Charles Dennis arrived.
Gayle was his heart – filling him with Christ's love in a way that only Gayle could do. No matter what life brought, Buck knew he had a Prayer Warrior in his corner.
Dennis was his pride – he reveled in Dennis's many accomplishments; in music, service to his country, finishing college on his own and growing into an honorable man.
Once Buck was hired at the Sheffield Steel Plant, steel was in his veins and he never looked back. Thirty -five years were spent at the plant, retiring as Superintendent of Steel Production. His consulting business thereafter was spent training crews around the world to operate casting machines and these were his most rewarding years. He credited the Sand Springs crew with his every success. They were family and so many have gone before him, including his brothers of the heart, Terrell Prince and John Sims.
After retirement from Sheffield, Buck married Fran Willis and gained 5 brothers and two more sisters; all who loved and admired him. He also inherited scores of nieces and nephews and another chance at parenting Emma Elizabeth"Beth".
Beth was his comfort - she gave him the ultimate gift: unconditional love – Agape!
Gone before him were his parents, Doc and Edna Cramer; his sister Florence Margaret and husband Thomas Eugene Crane; the children's mother Betty Gayle Cramer; a very special great grandson Trevor Lutter and all of his Willis brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife Fran, at home; daughter Gayle and husband Philip Hoyt of Sand Springs, son Dennis Cramer and wife Barry of Claremore, daughter Beth and husband Tracy Rask of Sand Springs.
Also, grandchildren Holly (the smartest of the bunch) and husband Ernie Lutter; Barrett Cramer (high school football star turned hero firefighter) and wife Jill; Erik (the model of kindness) Hoyt and wife Lea; Paige (a kindred spirit) and husband Brandan Spears; and Garett Rask (who is going to fix this old world).
Also, his favorite niece, Alice Jean Reed; sister-in-law Elsie Willis; sister-in-law Shirley Willis; and many Willis nieces and nephews (some of them 2
nd
favorites).
Note from Fran:
Buck has made his mark on this world and on many hearts. In authoring this obituary, he wanted to honor each and every one of you. His thoughts these last few weeks were on our church family (Kathy and Linda); the dancers (missing Buddy); old buddies (Mike, Wendell, Larry Gene); childhood friends (Renee); those who were there in the last days (Rivercross employees and Dr. Eimen); and of course, our Tracy who picked up all the jobs no one else would do. Those that could not be named, know his love.
