The following was lovingly written by David's family...

David Scott Spear passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at his home in Jennings, OK at the age of 66. He was born on July 31, 1953 in Norton, Kansas to Donald and Marilyn Spear. David grew up in Norton surrounded by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, especially following his father's death at age 10. He attended Norton schools and graduated from Norton High School in 1971. He loved playing sports, including football and wrestling, and would always spend the summers at the pool and baseball fields. Even though he was often the littlest player on the team, his determination and love of the game outweighed his size. He was most proud to be part of a State Champion Wrestling Team and of his Hall of Fame wrestling coach and mentor. Coach Durham encouraged him to attend the Kansas Cadette Lawman Academy in 1970.

David especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his Uncle Don and friends Pat and Tom. He told of the early mornings he went hunting before school started. On one occasion he had a flat tire on the way back to school and almost missed taking the ACT exam. That was David!

David attended Kansas State University and earned a degree in Civil Engineering in 1976. He talked about squeezing 4 years into five while wrestling his first two years at KSU and having lots of fun at Haymaker Hall and Aggieville! David met Diane Brooks their freshman year and married in August of 1973. After college they lived in Wichita and Topeka where David worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation until 1984. They moved to Oklahoma where David worked for the City of Tulsa as an engineer and Certified Floodplain Manager in the Department of Stormwater Management, then retiring in 2013 w Development Services.

David and Diane raised three children, Brooke, Leslie, and Donald while living in Mannford 35 years. The family attended Lakeview Christian Church where David served as a deacon and elder for several years. They moved to the Jennings, OK area in 2019 where David enjoyed country living and abundant wildlife. He jokingly said he could "hunt deer from his chair on the front porch."

David was a man of faith and love for family. He enjoyed each of his nine grandchildren and kept in touch with his many family members.

Go fishing Dad and enjoy!
Walk with the Angels,
To your fishing hole.
Along the way say hello
To all those who have gone before.
Even though it is hard to let go,
Go with our love
And hurt no more.
Go in peace to your fishing hole.
