The following was lovingly written by Dave's family...

Dave is joy. He loves people deeply. Dave is a son, brother, father, and a friend to everyone. He loves talking and learning about and from others. He loves sharing stories and laughing. He can see the good in anything and help others do the same. Dave loves words and stringing them together in a beautiful way. As a result, he created some beautiful life lessons for us. I think the most important one is to "Walk into a room & make it better because you are there." He always guided us to be the reason someone smiled and had joy in their day. That's exactly what he did. He battled with Multiple Sclerosis for 18 years and handled it with grace, perseverance, determination, and all the strength in the world.

Dave set the example for his kids that we can do hard things, we can do "one more" and that our attitude becomes our outcome. One of Dave's biggest lessons to his family is, "You judge someone's character not by what happens to them, but by how they choose to handle it." This is not simply something he liked to say, but something he practiced day in and day out for years and years. Dave loves the phrase, "Endeavor to persevere," or as he puts it "enDAVEor to persevere." It is his way of telling us to keep trying to try our best. To always try to be better. He knows how to push others to be their best. We are forever inspired by that.

He never misses an opportunity to tell people he loves them or to give corny compliments. Dave feels everything so deeply. He knows what he feels and is comfortable expressing his emotions. What a beautiful gift it's been to learn about connection through vulnerability. Everything about Big Wave Dave is BIG. BIG EMOTIONS. BIG THOUGHTS. BIG GESTURES. BIG HUGS. And mostly BIG LOVE.

The last piece of scripture my dad wrote down states, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do & He will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5-6.
He chose the word "Reinvigorate" for 2023. Each day he shared how he applied that word or what he learned from it. Now we carry on how to be reinvigorated in this new chapter.
I LOVE YA MAN is his favorite way to sign off… So, WE LOVE YA MAN… so very much.
