He passed away due to injuries from a traffic accident on January 24, 2021, in Springdale, Arkansas.
Jimmy was dedicated to God, baptized by Pastor David Bates and welcomed into Mannford First United Methodist Church on July 24, 1994. He completed his confirmation in 2012 with Pastor David Jenkins officiating. He participated in many FUMC activities such as the Pumpkin Patch, Grilling for God, and helping the elderly. Utilizing his computer skills, Jimmy helped FUMC expand its audio-visual ministries.
Jimmy grew up in Mannford and graduated from Mannford Public Schools in 2012. During his junior, senior and post-secondary year, he also attended Central Tech at the Drumright campus where he completed information technology courses in network administration, computer security and coding. Jimmy represented Central Tech at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Leadership Conferences in 2011, 2012 and 2013 placing high enough in the Oklahoma competition each year to advance to the national competitions in Washington D.C., Chicago, and Orlando, respectively. In 2013, he placed third in the nation in the Post-Secondary Division competitions for Microsoft Network Administration and Computer Security.
Jimmy graduated from Oklahoma State University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2017. While attending OSU he also tutored math students in the OSU Mathematics Learning Success Center. In addition to his OSU math and computer classes, Jimmy also enjoyed attending German language classes. The love for that language led him to tour Germany on his own for two weeks after graduation.
In 2017, Jimmy moved to Centerton, Arkansas, and began his computer engineering career at the Walmart corporate office in its Bentonville headquarters. He found the work rewarding and within a couple of months he was recognized as a top performing employee. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed riding the many bike trails in the Centerton-Bentonville area as well as working out at the Walton Life Fitness center.
In February, 2020, Jimmy accepted a Production Engineer position with Facebook in Menlo Park, California. Jimmy loved to travel and see different places so he looked forward to the move and exploring California and nearby states. Unfortunately, just a few weeks after his relocation to the San Francisco area, Covid-19 emerged in the U.S. and on March 17, 2020, a Shelter in Place order was issued for the citizens in San Francisco and the surrounding areas. As a result of the order, Facebook employees assigned to the Menlo Park Headquarters were required to work from home. As the pandemic became more prolific in California than in other areas of the country, Facebook allowed its Menlo Park employees to relocate out of state and work from home for at least 6 months. Jimmy chose to return to Centerton and later, Fayettville, Arkansas. He was scheduled to return to Menlo Park in July, 2021.
Jimmy was 26 years old and lived life! He enjoyed cruising, shopping, hiking, running, kayaking, bicycling and an occasional game of Tripoly. He loved his family and his family loved him! He patiently held our hands through any new technology steps we had to take whether it was with a task of setting up a smart phone or tv, acquiring a new computer, or programming a locator tile. To say we are tremendously proud of Jimmy is a huge understatement! Our hearts are broken and we miss him more than we can ever express.
Jimmy was predeceased by his maternal granddad, Larry Meadows, his paternal grandparents, Cecil "Jim" and Joy Brandly and one uncle, Sam Wise, and his infant cousin, Benjamin Ray Johnson.
Jimmy is survived by his parents, Jim and Leesa Brandly of Mannford, Oklahoma, his sister and brother-in-law, Kimberlee and Thomas Pope of Fairview, Oklahoma, and his grandparents, Tamra and Curt Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition, he was excited and looking forward to becoming Uncle Jimmy in June.
Also left to mourn his passing are his aunts and uncles, including David and Shirlene Meadows (Altus, OK), Doug and Dorothy Meadows (Weatherford, OK); Emalee and Gary Johnson (Stillwater, OK), Jan and Mark Littlefield (Mannford, OK), Mary and Robert Acre (Canton, OK), Kim Brandly Wise (Elk City, OK) and Brad and Brandi Brandly (Canton, OK). Jimmy leaves behind several cousins who will also miss him very much.
The list of Jimmy's grieving family members would not be complete without the names of Georg and Eva, his adopted rescue dogs. Because of his unconditional love for animals, if you wish to honor Jimmy, please make a donation to your local SPCA. Also, when possible, please remember the rescue adoption option when considering a pet.
Please let Jimmy's untimely death remind you to treasure every minute with your loved ones and never take for granted their presence in your life.
Jimmy was cremated and his family will care for his cremains. A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, 105 Greenwood Avenue, Mannford, Oklahoma. It was conducted by Mannford Funeral Home and officiated by Jimmy's Uncle Gary Johnson. In respect of Jimmy's wishes for everyone to remain Covid free, masks and social distancing was required of attendees. The service was streamed live online at https://www.facebook.com/StillwaterChurchofChrist and to be posted later on YouTube.
