Darline Ruth (Cotton) Weiss, 87, of Silver City, Oklahoma, left this earth and her physical body on Monday, June 19, 2017 in Cleveland, OK, after a long illness.

She was born on April 5, 1930 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Jim and Geneva (Sutton) Cotton. She had a sister, Mildred. Darline adored her father and shared many a fond memory of spending time with him.

Darline married Donald Eugene Weiss on March 10, 1958 in Hutchinson, Kansas, and they spent 42 years together until he preceded her in death in April of 2000. They adored each other; He often left little love notes around the house for her to find. They worked together for many years at their graphic sign business in Tulsa.

After attending Hutchinson Junior College, Darline graduated from Emporia State College, Emporia, Kansas, in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in education, majoring in art and with a minor degree in English.

Darline was one of the most kind, gentlest, unselfish and most stubborn person around. Her green thumb was profoundly obvious with just one look at their luxurious gardens by their house, but she took a little extra time and love with some of her favorite plants: orchids, hostas, and the little red maple tree her husband planted by the creek. And irises! Donnie and Darline were dedicated to helping animals, most especially rescuing cats and they constructed magnificent spaces on their property for hundreds of unwanted felines.

She also loved puzzles, word games, music, and reading. She loved books and may have read more books in one year than most people do in a lifetime.

Darline is survived by stepdaughter Lu Arnold and her husband Wayne, of Tulsa, OK; stepson Fred Weiss of Jennings; grandson Eric Weiss, Tulsa, great granddaughter Angelina Weiss, Oklahoma City; granddaughter Michelle Carabello and her husband John of Tulsa; granddaughter Eva McCarthy, Tulsa; grandson Allen McCarthy, Tulsa; grandson Jason McCarthy and his wife Andria of Tulsa; great grandchildren Meghan Drake, Brady Drake, Emma, Nino, Quincee, Nikki Palestini, Drake, Kelsey McCarthy, Haley, and Chase, all of Tulsa; great grandchildren Ryan McCarthy, Melbourne, FL; Paige Palestini, Boulder, CO.

Her grandchildren always enjoyed visiting her and nicknamed her "Grandma at the goats".

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darline's name to your favorite animal rescue group.
