The following was lovingly written by Dan's family...
Dan was born in Watonga, Oklahoma on December 16, 1937. His dad and mom, Edwin Morgan Prickett and Sylvia "Syb" Bradford Prickett owned a farm. His dad was the fire chief in Watonga and mom worked at CR Anthony for 20 years. Dan had one sister who was three years older than him who was also born in Watonga. Dan frequently got to accompany his dad on fire runs, which he loved, and was very well dressed thanks to CR Anthony.
Dan and Martha Ann Conradi met in high school when Dan marched up to her between classes and asked her to the prom. She said yes and hurried off to class where she realized she really didn't know him at all and he had no idea where she lived. She had no idea how long he had been waiting to talk to her and ask her out, and he did know where she lived.
Dan and Marty were married August 8, 1958 in Watonga and Dan attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he studied engineering.
Tamara "Tammy" Leigh Prickett was born September 31, 1959 in Watonga. It wasn't long before Dan began his career with Fanning Engineering. His job moved them several times throughout Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma.
In 1967 he made a career change to Cimarron Telephone and moved his family to Mannford, Oklahoma. Daniel Bradford "Brad" was born September 19, 1967 in Tulsa. They lived in Mannford from 1967 until 1975 when he moved his family for the last time to the current homestead on highway 48, where he lived the rest of his life. Dan retired in 2007 after 40 years at CimTel as a communications engineer.
His life was blessed in so many ways by wonderful friends, close family and God's Grace. Tammy and her husband Wayne have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. Brad and his wife Jeri also have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. He may not have always, if ever, agreed with our choices, he always had wisdom and other options to offer and "I told you so's" were rare.
We will miss his sense of humor, his phone calls and his love for snickerdoodles. We all know he loved us beyond measure, even when we were difficult to love, but that was his job. See you soon!
"Weary traveler, restless soul
You were never meant to walk this road alone
It'll all be worth it so just hold on
Weary traveler, you won't be weary long."
